Each year, the Board of Admissions bestows the Presidential Scholarship on incoming first-year students who have excelled academically.
Presidential Scholars are not only among our most academically gifted students, but they also excel outside of the classroom and are leaders in their schools and communities.
This tuition scholarship of $25,000 is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate studies at BU.
About Boston University Boston University (BU)
Boston University is a private research university located in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. The university is nonsectarian, but it has a long history with the United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1839 by Methodists in Newbury, Vermont, before moving to Boston in 1867.
To recognize high-achieving students who go above and beyond, BU offers a variety of merit scholarships, some of which cover full tuition. The majority of awards are given for academic achievement, while others are given to talented athletes, performers, and artists. Furthermore, merit-based awards do not require you to submit a financial aid application and are not repaid.
Who is qualified to apply for Boston University Scholarships?
- All merit awards and other scholarships are open to US citizens, permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens.
- International students are only considered for the Trustee and Presidential Scholarships.
Trustee Scholarship
Scholars receive BU's most prestigious scholarship and become part of a unique campus community that provides intellectual, cultural, and social opportunities.
Applicants should apply if they are among the most accomplished in their class and have demonstrated exceptional engagement in their schools and communities.
The Trustee Scholarship is open to all students, including US citizens, permanent residents, eligible non-citizens, and international students.

- There is no CSS ProfileTM or FAFSA required.
- The Common Application requires one essay.
How To Apply for Trustee Scholarship
To be considered for a Trustee Scholarship, please complete the following form:
- By December 1, submit the Common Application and all required materials for admission to one of BU's undergraduate degree programs.
- As part of your BU application, complete the Trustee Scholarship essay on the Common Application.

The Presidential Scholarship is open to all students, including US citizens, permanent residents, eligible non-citizens, and international students.
- Annual Value: $25,000
- Deadline: December 1, 2022
How To Apply For the Presidential scholarships:
There are no additional essays or application forms required. Students interested in the Presidential Scholarship should submit their application and supporting documentation by December 1.
