International students are welcome to apply for the KILLAM Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2023-2024. The scholarship provides a $50,000 annual stipend for a maximum of two years, as well as a $4,000 travel research grant spread over two years and many other incentives.
The Killam Scholarship was established in Izaak Walton Killam's memory through the Will of his spouse, Dorothy Johnston Killam, and gifts made throughout her lifetime. Their main goal is to fund advanced education and research at five Canadian universities as well as the Canada Council for the Arts.
The Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies awards UBC Killam Postdoctoral Research Fellowships annually in most fields of study. Mrs. Killam hoped that people selected for fellowships would "be inclined to support the development of scholarship or achieve distinction in the industry."

KILLAM Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Eligibility Criteria
- English is the required language.
- All countries in the world are eligible.
- Must not have pursued PhD-level study at any University of British Columbia site.
- Must have completed all PhD requirements no more than 24 months prior to the projected start date of the fellowship.
- Must not be a tenure-track or continuing faculty member at a university or college. Applicants must currently hold a temporary, term, or non-tenure track faculty appointment.
How to Apply for a KILLAM Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
- Make a copy of your original academic records or obtain one.
- Send these to your home university, and request that they verify that the photocopies are consistent with their records.
- certify to the authenticity of the copies and stamp them with an official university stamp
- Place the attested, stamped photocopies in sealed envelopes with the Registrar's signature.
- Send the sealed, endorsed envelopes to the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies, 6371 Crescent Road, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z2.
